Savdush, Mordechai (Mickey)
Son of Stefania and Alexander, Mordechai was born on January 4, 1923, in the city of Oifst, Hungary. He attended high school and was particularly fond of music. During the decrees against the Jews in Hungary he was active in the underground and fought together with the partisans in the Nazi invader. He was captured by the Germans, but managed to escape. Mordechai immigrated to Israel on May 14, 1946, spent a few months at Tel Yosef and later moved to Haifa and worked in music. Mordechai was among the first conscripts to join the army, served in the Carmeli Brigade and participated in various activities in the Galilee. He participated in Operation Brosh to destroy the Syrian bridgehead in the Mishmar Hayarden area and fell in battle in this area on 9 July 1948. On 8 November 1948 he was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
