Sasson,Ben-Zion


He was born in Tel Aviv in 1932 and grew up in the Hatikva neighborhood. He was one of the youngest members of the Irgun and was an intelligent and courageous soldier during the War of Independence and joined the Irgun to serve in the IDF, in a unit of former Irgun soldiers in the Givati ​​Brigade. On the night of June 2-3, 1948, during the “Philistine” operation, the Givati ​​forces attacked the Egyptian alignment near the Ashdod Bridge (the “Ad Halom” bridge today). The assault was halted by heavy enemy fire and the forces were forced to retreat. The attack failed, but forced the Egyptians to to halt their advance northwards. In this battle Moshe fell on the 25th of Iyar 5708 (June 3, 1948). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
