Sasson, Boaz (“Buzi”)

Sasson, Boaz (“Buzi”)

Son of Shaul and Rebecca. Born in Tel Aviv on June 15, 1948, he completed his high school studies at the Ankori Institute in Tel Aviv. He was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement. Among his hobbies are swimming, exercise and stamp collecting. In sports he would like to play soccer and basketball. As a boy he was whimsical, full of gaiety and joy, but as he got older he became serious. While in Gadna, he took part in the march and was drafted into the IDF in May 1967. He was an excellent soldier and a model member, and during his service Boaz underwent a parachuting course and served as a liaison in the Jordan Valley. But just as he was naughty and cheerful during his childhood, he became more and more serious with his annexation to the ranks of the soldiers because of the responsibility he had and he proved himself to be “a wise man of peace and quiet but exasperated in his Lev, striving for greatness, with a strong desire to succeed and stand out” After him fell. “He always wanted to be among the first, he was always one of the volunteers.” But he, too, in his regular service, fell in pursuit of saboteurs; This was on the 11th of Adar 5729 (March 11, 1969). Boaz was one of the connections that accompanied the chasing force. He often expressed his belief that he had a contract with the Angel of Death, and in a contract it was expressly stated that their path would never be met. But one of the parties broke the contract! He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. “I often met him in the early hours of the morning,” his commander wrote, “with his belt strapped on him, his” Uzi “shoulder and the radio on his back, and after his shameful” good morning “I would turn to him with ironic questions, Has it happened, Boaz? Or: ‘Are you suffering from insomnia?’ Etc. – and his answer was always short and purposeful, something like ‘I do not know!’ When someone starts to chase someone, he is ready to be the first one to go out and there is no possibility of a chase and I will not participate in it. “Sometimes I would try to explain to him that in this matter there is a plan, I would sometimes dismiss him with a smile and try to figure out what was running the guy, and on one occasion, when he was about to get on the helicopter, I told him that I was taking another place instead of him, so I saw an insult, For over two weeks he could not look into my eyes until that incident It was not long before the chase, for which he was the last, the same chase in which three of the best units were killed by grenades and balls of cowardly murderers who had no courage to fight faces To faces, murderers who found refuge in a rock cave (which served as a residence for a local family) and behind the back of a wet nurse, toddlers and rags and an innocent-looking piece who pretended not to know about the terrorist cell in the cave … But its spirit of war, its daring, its intensity and the degree of its sacrifice will serve as an example to all those who have known it – and its fall – Immediately all those who still hold their arms. ” A booklet in his memory entitled “Boaz” was published by his parents and friends.
