Saran (Mayorchik), Dov Mordechai


Son of Tuvia and Leah. Born on the 16th of Nissan, April 17, 1938 in Tel Aviv. After graduating from elementary school in Givat Hashlosha, he studied at the agricultural school of “Hakfar Hayarok”. In his youth he was a member of the United Movement, belonged to HaPoel and participated in a folk dance group. He was a gym teacher. He liked classical music and folk songs and even played the clarinet. He was drafted into the IDF in November 1956 and reached the rank of lieutenant. He fell in the course of his duties on the 9th of Cheshvan, October 30 1960. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Since 1961, various sports competitions (ping-pong, handball and volleyball) have been held each year and the prizes were donated and distributed by his father. In each competition, a certificate is given, and a picture of Dov Mordechai. At the base of his unit, is a memorial room with its history, pictures and souvenirs that reflect his life and image.
