Sanhani, Avner
Son of Leah and Saadia, was born on 23 August 1962 in Kfar Hasidim. He was from a traditional family that immigrated from Yemen. He studied at the religious state school in Kfar Hasidim and later at the Center for Torah Education in Zichron Yaakov, where he studied for three years. He completed his studies at a vocational boarding school in Kibbutz Lavi, where he studied for four years. In August 1981 he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Paratroopers Brigade, where he served as a driver and served as a driver in his unit, where he served as a driver. Avner was promoted to Corporal. He fought in the Peace for Galilee War and served at the base of his unit in Lebanon as a driver. On November 4, 1982, he was driving a military vehicle on the road leaving Sidon. He drove down a steep slope, and his car turned upside down and Avner was killed. He was 20 when he died. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Kfar Hasidim cemetery. Survived by his parents, five sisters and a brother. In a letter of condolence to his family, the commander of his unit wrote: “Your son was killed in a traffic accident in the eastern sector of Lebanon when he was on duty, and in a short time Avner became familiar with everything and became an integral part of the base where he served modestly and gently. He was willing to help in times of trouble, willing to give more shoulders and effort, for the sake of all, and he captivated everyone with his personal charm and the grace of his ways.
