Sandrovich, Azriel

He was born in 1923 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, where he grew up and studied. He immigrated to Israel aboard the “Patria” ship, which reached Tel Aviv. He jumped off the deck of the ship into the sea and reached the beach swimming. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and later moved to the Jewish Brigade. In the army, he became especially involved with a number of members of the Dorot family who were drafted, and upon their liberation he accompanied them and joined as a friend. Azriel experienced several jobs and finally specialized in baking. Life on the kibbutz weighed on him, and one day he left the farm and moved to Haifa. He also worked there until the beginning of the War of Independence. Azriel enlisted in the Palmach, joined the Palmach, and was accompanied by a convoy to Gush Etzion and remained in Kfar Etzion since January 1948. He joined the Hayash platoon and recently served as an instructor in the Fiat, an anti-tank missile.
