Son of Avuzna and Adega. Zion was born in Ethiopia on January 19, 1959. He grew up in Ethiopia, immigrated to Israel in 1984 and lived in Nazareth Illit, where he married Tanya and was a father to Yonatan, Orly and Avner, and joined the Israel Prison Service in April 1988. He served in security roles Ayalon Prison and Hermon Prison. On Wednesday, 19 September 2001, First Sergeant Major Zion died of a serious illness and died at the age of forty-two, leaving behind a wife and three children
