Samuel, Samuel (Shmuelik)

Shmuel (Shmulik), son of Chaya and Pinchas z “l, was born on July 11, 1948 in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Yahalam Elementary School in Ramat Gan and later graduated from the Ohel Shem High School in Ramat Gan, where he was a quiet, disciplined boy, shy, modest and humble. He was a good student and excelled at learning history, and was a member of the sports club, at school he was very fond of his friends and when he was elected to various action committees, they always chose him because they knew they could count on him. His works were beautifully arranged, written in clear handwriting, and the content reflected sensitivity and understanding. He collected a collection of personal pictures and actors and a collection of stamps, wrote poems on current issues and love songs, and was always devoted to his mother and tried to make it easier for her and to comfort her, especially after his father past away. and after completing high school he traveled with a friend abroad, and was conscripted into the IDF in mid-August 1966 and assigned to the medical corps. After basic training and after completing his course for combat medics, he was attached as a medic to a field unit. During the Six-Day War, he served as a combat medic in the first half-tracks that entered Kantara, where he was assigned to reserve duty in a field hospital, and after graduating from the army he studied for one year at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Law, and Psychology, then moved to Bar-Ilan University where he studied for three years in Israeli Political Science and History, and in August 1973 he completed his undergraduate studies and was preparing to pursue his Master’s Degree. He spent days and nights in libraries, reading material for his studies and writing works When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Shmuel arrived in his unit and was sent to the Golan Heights on October 10, 1973. He was injured in the shelling and was killed while he was helping the wounded in the El-Al area and was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery In his letter of condolences to the bereaved mother, Prof. Liebman wrote: “Your son was one of the few who was accepted to the MA studies in the political sciences on the basis of his achievements in undergraduate studies, Even before all of his scores were received in the past year.
