Samovich, Moshe (Maurizio)

Moshe, son of Hanna-Rivka and Yitzhak Samovich, the eldest son of a large family, was born in August 1923 in Romania. He survived the horrors of the Second World War and when Romania was liberated, he began to set out on his way to Israel. He spent three years traveling and he also was detained in the detention camp in Cyprus.
Moshe arrived in Israel in March 1948 and immediately upon his arrival he joined the army. He was delighted to have been given the opportunity to participate in the War of Independence. He dreamed of a peaceful life in the future, when he would work in agricultural work and bring over his parents. Moshe served in the 7th Brigade and took part in Operation son of-Nun B – the second attack on the Legion in Latrun in an attempt to break through the road to Jerusalem. In this battle, on 21 Iyar, May 30, 1948, he fell on the Latrun front. He was buried in Na’an. On the 18.5.1950, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Afula.
