Samet, Ze’ev (Werner)


He was born in 1905 in Germany and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1934. With the outbreak of the Second World War in December 1939, he joined the British army and was assigned to the cavalry corps, serving in Egypt and the Western Desert, and on the 23rd of Iyar (10.5.1942) was killed in the battle for Tobruk. His name was immortalized in the Book of Volunteerism, in the Yizkor book of the Jabotinsky Institute and in the “Book of the Year of the Journalists”. An investigation conducted in 2017 found that he was buried in Al-Alamein, Egypt.
