Salpeter, Eliezer (Eli)


Son of Aliza and Chaim, Eli was born on the 17th of Shvat, 5712 (17.2.1952) in Tel Aviv. Eli attended the Hayovel Elementary School and the Ironi Aleph High School in Tel Aviv. He belonged to the Scouts movement, which operated in the school. During his high school years, Eli was also active in the Gadna. Eli loved sports, soccer and basketball, and he liked to read, especially Hebrew literature. He spent his basic training in military training. In April 1970, he rose to the rank of corporal, excelled in his service, and in June 1972 he rose to the rank of sergeant. He completed his compulsory military service in the summer of 1973. He went on to study at the University of New York, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The wide world he discovered in the United States, wealth and abundance, did not diminish his love for Israel. He was drawn back home, to his family, to his surroundings in Tel Aviv and to the country. After spending about a year and a half in New York, he returned to Israel and continued his studies at the Shenkar College of Business Administration in Ramat Gan, completing his studies in the United States. At the same time, he joined the family enterprise, loved his work and invested his best talents and talents in the factory. Eli treated every employee with respect, took care of his rights, and the employees responded with affection and appreciation. When the Peace for Galilee war broke out, Eli was drafted into reserve duty. Half a year later, in October 1982, he was drafted again and served in the military administration in Tire. On the 25th of Cheshvan 5743 (11.11.1982), a gas balloon exploded in the military administration building in Tire. The military administration building collapsed and many of the IDF soldiers were killed in the explosion, including Eli. He was 30 years old when he died, and the commander of his unit wrote to his family: “Eli served in the MPCID from the beginning of his career and has stood out from the beginning of his service as a responsible, dedicated and reliable investigator.” Eli was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv. He left behind his parents and sister.”
