Salomon, Moshe (Musa)


Son of Chana and Abraham, was born on the 11th of Cheshvan 5726 (Jerusalem, 1/11/1925) to a family of seven generations, from the descendants of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Tzoref, who built the “Horbat Yehuda HaChasid” in Old Jerusalem, – Moshe Salomon, builder of Nahalat Shiva neighborhood outside the walls of the Old City and one of the founders of Petah Tikva. As a child, he wandered with his parents to Metula, Beit Shean, Ekron, Tel Aviv, Petah Tikva and Rishon Lezion. He joined Maccabi Hatzair and at the age of 13 for the Haganah. Moshe completed elementary school in Rishon Letzion and the Herzlia Gymnasium in Tel Aviv in 1943. He then served for a year in Notarot, with the rank of sergeant, “After completing his studies in the first graduating class of the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Jewish Agency (” School of Diplomats “), he studied humanities at the University of Jerusalem (three semesters), studied Arabic, sociology and history He was a member of the Histadrut’s student committee, and Moshe received a scholarship for his book “Muhammad Ali in Eretz Israel” He was especially interested in oriental sciences, sometimes working in the Jewish Agency’s Eastern Department, writing a diary but not neglecting his activities in the Haganah. December 1947, when the War of Independence broke out after the United Nations General Assembly decided on 29 November 1947 to partition the country, headed a group of defenders who repelled an assault on Princess Mary Street in Jerusalem. He was promoted to the rank of company commander in an auxiliary company of the Moriah battalion, organized the Hartuv defense, and was able to go to Hadassah on the day of the massacre of the Hadassah convoy. To his credit, the missions of the Semiramis, Wadi Joz, Katamon and Sheikh- Jarrah On May 18, 1948, he ordered an attempt to break into the Old City of Jerusalem, injuring four healthy wounds near the Jaffa Gate, and ordered his platoon to retreat, crawling to his base. Was buried in Givat Ram (Sheikh Bader) in Jerusalem, and was promoted to the rank of captain on September 10, 1950. He was transferred to the eternal military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
