Zion, son of Simcha and Isaac, was born on December 13, 1952, in Haifa. He studied at Ma’alot Elementary School in Bnei Brak and later attended elementary school in Pardes Katz and completed his studies at ORT high school in Tel Aviv. Zion was a diligent and talented student. After graduating from the army, he was an avid sports enthusiast who excelled in judo, and from his youth he loved music and learned to play the guitar, and since he was a cheerful boy with an excellent sense of humor, He was a devoted and loyal son to his parents, helped them with housework, and treated them with respect and appreciation, and was drafted into the IDF in February 1971 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training, after completing tank training course and tank gun course, he was assigned to an armored unit in the south of the country as a liaison officer in a tank. He was a dedicated and loyal soldier for his position, loved by his comrades in the unit and Ehud for his commanders. During the Yom Kippur War, Zion participated in the battles of bravery against the Third Army units and fought with courage and exemplary devotion. On the 17th of Tishrei 5740 (October 12, 1973), Zion fell in battle in the Sinai and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and two brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Zion took part in the cruel and difficult battle in which the Egyptian army was stopped in the southern sector and participated in the victory in this battle, in which he died.
