Sakharov, David

Was born in the late 1880s. As a Rishon LeZion resident and as a member of Hashomer, he served as a vineyard keeper. Everyone in the colony knew and liked the handsome, tall, young man who always smiled and was happy to help anyone. Every day he would go to guard duty and in this role he saw a mission, reinforcing the principle that the Jews would preserve their property and defend their lives on their own. On the 9th of Av 5772 (July 23, 1912), David was brutally murdered and brought to eternal rest in Rishon LeZion, and his memoirs were published in the newspapers Ha’or and HaPoel HaTza’ir, Haganah, “n the Jubilee Book of Rishon LeZion and in the book on Guarding in the Galilee and Judea.
