Sadovsky, Raphael

Born in Russia and raised in Egypt. He taught in the Jewish community in Cairo. He was secretary of the Tzahar Alliance in Cairo and a supporter of the Lehi underground. With extensive contacts in the city and great familiarity with all parts of the city, he assisted the Lehi underground emissaries in obtaining storage facilities and also put his house at their disposal for meetings. In anticipation of the assassination of Lord Moyne on 6.11.1944 he obtained a room for two to be operated at the home of a local Jew. After the hanging of the heroes Eliyahu Hakim and Eliyahu Beit Tzuri, who were caught immediately after the operation, he went to prostrate himself on their graves and the undertaker, who was connected to the detective, handed him over to the police. Ten months after his arrest and close to the time of his trial, on 23 Elul (1.9.1945) he committed suicide in the prison cell. His burial place is unknown.
