Son of David and Sarah. Born in the city of Izmir, Turkey, on August 1, 1954, Jacky immigrated to Israel with Youth Aliyah and spent two years in various kibbutzim. His integration into the country was quick and perfect. He began to speak Hebrew, not perfect and not fluent, but behaved like a sabra to everything. It was clear to all that Yaakov would join the good and the better. Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1973 and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade, after which he completed a parachuting course and became a regular combat soldier in a paratroopers regiment.In order to complete his education and to become one of the guys, During the Yom Kippur War, the battalion was taken down to Sinai and took a large part in the bloody battles against the Egyptian troops, despite the inferiority, quantity and quality of manpower and anti-tank weapons. Against Egyptian commandos that landed in secret throughout the Sinai, laid mines and hit back units. The soldiers of the battalion, including Jackie among them, went through sleepless days and nights, without removing their shoes and removing their clothes. They stood and fought incessantly and stood up to the task of stopping the attacking enemy. After a cease-fire was reached on the Egyptian front, Jacob was transferred to the northern front and served in the Syrian enclave; And here, during the War of Attrition after the war, on April 27, 1974, Yaakov fell in battle at Mount Hermon and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind his parents, two brothers and a sister. Moshe Dayan, the Minister of Defense at the time, wrote: “Ya’akov was a soldier and a loyal friend, and Yaakov was loved by all those who knew him. His name and picture appear in the booklet “Kol Karei ve-Halakhti” which was issued by the Paratroopers Brigade in memory of its fallen soldiers.
