Sabak, Nahad


Son of Suleiman and flourished. He was born on 20 April 1956 in Kfar Hurfeish, to a large family of children. He studied elementary school in the village and graduated from the high school in Tarshiha. He devoted his holidays to the earthwork and helped his father as best he could. During his studies he was active in the Gadna and was also a member of the Druze Scout Movement in Israel, and he participated in several tours and trips with his friends, and the certificates of excellence for his activities still glorify the walls of his room. Nehad was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1974, and his writing left him with a few poems and short stories. And was assigned to the Minorities Unit. After basic training he successfully passed a paramedics course. His commanders admired him as “a devoted and responsible person, an excellent soldier, a volunteer in every respect.” On August 4, 1975, while he was in the unit’s camp, a message was received that a patrol had encountered a terrorist squad near Mount Manor on the Lebanese border, together with the force that had been set up, In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “I knew him as a modest young man who did his duty with understanding and love, and he always followed him. He did not demand reward and compensation. See in everything that he did his duty towards his parents, his home and his family, his village and his country … Perhaps there is in the way of your son’s life, character, behavior and chain of wonderful deeds in the IDF to comfort you for having such a wonderful son. “
