Sabag, Amos-Eliyahu


Son of Pinchas and Zayana. He was born on 27.5.1937 in Medanin, Tunisia. When he was fifteen years old, after studying in a “yeshiva” abroad, he immigrated to Israel with his parents and continued to study at the Porat Yosef yeshiva in Rehovot. They settled in Moshav Tkuma and he worked in the parents’ farm. He was simple in his manner, humble and self-serving and devoted to all his friends. He never tried to stand out among the members of the moshav. He did not know anger, spoke calmly, and did everything according to logic and justice. He enlisted in the IDF Armored Corps and participated in the Sinai Campaign. After the liberation he returned to Moshav Tkuma. He soon established a family and became a successful farmer. He also dealt with public needs as a member of the village committee. So far, the Six-Day War broke out, and as a result of the enemy’s shelling of the Sinai on August 8, 1967, Amos fell in love with a pregnant wife and two sons, the daughter was born about three weeks after the fall of her father. In “Israel-Israel”, the commemoration booklet of the Secretariat of the Moshavim Association of Hapoel Ha-Mizrachi was devoted to the pages of his memoirs. Erlich, a few pages were devoted to him.
