Saaba, Ezekiel (“Hezi”)

Saaba, Ezekiel (“Hezi”)

Son of Elders to Giorgi and Simha. Was born on 23.3.1949 in Baghdad, Iraq, and immigrated with his family to Israel in 1951. He studied at the Weizmann elementary school in Herzliya. He was a member of the Hapoel organization and was active in various circles. He did not have much free time, but in his spare hours he liked to listen to music to relieve the tension. He would also read books on various subjects in order to expand his knowledge of all the territories that interested him. Yehezkel was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1968 and volunteered for the Border Police, where he was very important and he told his family about his fascinating experiences, although the service was fraught with difficulties and dangers. It is his duty to protect the homeland, but he loses a lot. He was an obedient and docile fellow and did his job with the Border Police as much as he was assigned, to the satisfaction of his superiors. On 7 September 1970, he fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
