Rumi, Elad

Son of Esther and Shimon. Born on the 25th of Nissan, April 16, 1985 in Jerusalem. Elad volunteered in the program for the prevention of smoking, alcohol and drugs, and volunteered as a mentor for children as part of the Ministry of Defense. He completed basic training in the Shaked Battalion, successfully completed a course for squad commanders, served as a squad commander and as a platoon sergeant in the Gaza Strip region. After he succeeded as a platoon commander, Elad was appointed deputy company commander. During training for an operation in the Second Lebanon War (2006), Elad was injured in the back due to weight bearing. In January 2007, Elad was discharged from the IDF with the rank of lieutenant commander and returned to the family home in Ma’aleh Adumim. Elad began to work in the army Berat “Saar Security” as a security guard and as a security guard at Mount Scopus University. At the beginning of 2009, the IDF conducted Operation Cast Lead against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, where he decided to go to the “Eighth Conscience Corps” and volunteer for operations in the southern region, which was under attack from Gaza. After the fighting, Elad was awarded the ‘Excellence Award for Volunteer’ awarded to only ten volunteers. Lieutenant Elad fell during his service on the 28th of Tammuz, July 10, 2010, two weeks after he began reserve service. He was twenty five years old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem.
