Son of Shlomo and Henia. The father – from Poland and the mother – from the survivors of the Warsaw ghetto; Both of them longed for the homeland and when they came to Israel they established their home. Yaakov was born on 6/7/1949 in Hadera, where he studied at the Ayalon educational institution and after graduating from high school, was a sports fan and in his 10th grade he was awarded the Sports Medal of the Ministry of Education and Culture He was an instructor in the Nahariya movement from 1967 to 1966. He was a well-known leader in the field of society and was well-organized in all his possessions and interests, and he loved to take trips, but he did not interfere with his friendships. He was very kind and loved to help everyone, he was willing to go to any mission, he loved the dance with all his Lev and soul, and he loved life and Know make the best of them. Climbing was optimistic and failures did not deter it continued its activities but not a resounding successes. In August 1967 he was recruited to the IDF and stationed armored reconnaissance unit. During his service, he proved himself to be an excellent soldier and devoted friend, and his commanders loved him and was a favorite of his comrades-in-arms. Jacob, who was mischievous in his smallness, became a serious person who did his actions with forethought. He knew that he was under the responsibility of recruits, understood his mission to the end, and took a courageous step in the service of the IDF. But he was still in compulsory service on 26.8.1968, encountered enemy forces near the tomb of the unknown soldier in the Ismailia area, and since then, When he was wounded, to the western bank of the canal, in memory of which was placed a monument in the missing section of the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, after which a booklet bearing the name “Ya’akov Ruina” appeared. After Jacob’s body was returned from Egypt, he was laid to rest in the cemetery on Kibbutz Ayalon.
