Rudnick, Avraham (Lavan)
Son of Esther and Dov, was born on October 25, 1926 in Lodz, Poland. He was a member of the Haganah from the age of 16.
With the outbreak of the War of Independence he joined the Givati Brigade. He participated in many battles on the way to Jerusalem, the south and the Negev. Avraham achieved having his name on the combat page of the Givati Brigade for his bravery during Operation Yoav, when his unit blocked the way of withdrawal to the Egyptian forces who wanted to break out of the Gad Tower to Gaza. (He destroyed an enemy machine-gun position in a grenade attack.) Avraham was killed in an attack on the Bet-Guvrin police on October 25, 1948. He was buried in the military cemetery in Kfar Warburg.
