Rubinstein, Menachem
, son of Malka and Moshe Rubinstein, was born oMenachemn February 9, 1928 in Tel Aviv. After finishing elementary school and the “Montefiore,” vocational school, he went to work in mechanical engineering. He trained in the Gadna, and later volunteered for the Palmach. For two and a half years Menachem served as a commander in the training unit of Sarid and in Mishmar HaEmek and participated as a scout and saboteur in the struggle against the British. From the beginning of the War of Independence, he participated in escorting convoys to Jerusalem and took part in various revenge operations around Tel Aviv. Menachem was in the group that was sent from Masuot Yitzhak to the aid of Kfar Etzion and fell with his friends on the 4th of Iyar, May 13, 1948. On the 25th of Cheshvon, (17.11.1949) he was transferred to the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
