Rothschild, Dan (Horst)

Dan, son of Frida and Yotam-Julius Yehuda Rothschild, was born on September 24, 1911 in Leipzig, Germany. At the age of two, he immigrated to Israel with his family and grew up in Haifa. In 1933 he returned to Germany, returning to Israel at the age of 22. Dan was a veteran Haganah fighter in Haifa and fell in the battle to release the city from Arab hands on the 8th of Nissan 5708 (17.4.1948). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He left behind a wife, Elisheva, and a daughter.
