My son underwent basic training, and then was sent to several professional courses that trained him as a gunner. He fought in the Yom Kippur War. He loved his family, and Pink and cared for his wife and daughters as best he could. On 27 June 1979, Benny was in reserve duty at an ammunition base near Mitzpeh Ramon. As part of his job, he drove a military vehicle on his way to change guards at the base. On the way, Benny strayed to the side of the road and his car overturned. He was killed, 29 years old. He was laid to rest at the Ashdod military cemetery. Benny left behind him Raya Roza, two daughters – Ita and Orit, parents and two brothers. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Benjamin fell as a reserve soldier in the role of security driver, and he was closely and courageously involved with the IDF both in compulsory service, both as a civilian employee of the IDF and in reserve duty. A smile on his lips, a personal example of his colleagues at work and in the job. “
