Rosless, Yishai-Avimal
Yishai-Avimal, son of Elisheva and Aharon Rosless, was born in Mexico on June 4, 1992. In 2001, at the age of eight, Yishai immigrated to Israel with his parents and with his siblings, following the grandfather’s decision to convert and start a new life as Jews. His young sisters were born in Israel. Entering the world of Judaism was not easy for them and involved suffering, but gradually the family settled in Israel. They underwent a conversion process at the Kokhav Ya’akov Absorption Center in the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. Yishai studied for a year in a religious state school called Or Lezion, and in fourth grade he moved to ultra-Orthodox education. He studied until the eighth grade at the Talmud Torah school in Jerusalem. During his studies at the Be’er Yehuda High School in Jerusalem, Yishai worked in janitorial work to help support the family.
At the age of nineteen, on 17 November 2011, he joined the IDF and fulfilled his dream, serving as a fighter in the Kfir Brigade, striving for excellence and fulfilling his missions in the best possible manner. One day, when an army jeep overturned as a result of Arabs throwing stones, Yishai arrived in his jeep with his soldiers, fired into the air, dispersed the gathering, and prevented a more severe blow to his friends who were trapped in the jeep.
Yishai Rosless fell in operational activity on the 24th of Tevet 5766 (5.1.2016). He was twenty-three years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem. Yishai is survived by parents, a brother and three sisters. After his fall he was promoted to captain. Yishai’s family appealed to the public to come and take part in his funeral, due to the small number of relatives in Israel. More than a thousand people answered their call and came at one o’clock in the morning to pay him last respects.
