Rosie, Yehoram (Yehoramy)


Son of Sarah and Yosef, was born on the 5th of September, 1929 in Tel Aviv. As a tender child, he was taken from his father and educated at the Blobstein orphanage in Tel Aviv. He attended elementary school and after eight years spent in the orphanage moved to Kibbutz Yavneh. He stayed there for two years, returned to Tel Aviv and began working as a printing press. When he was 14, he joined the ranks of the Haganah and participated in its activities. At the age of sixteen and a half he joined the police and served in the Ramat Hakovesh police station. He also took part in the aliyah activity and in other activities. Upon the outbreak of the War of Independence, he was drafted into the army and in the framework of the Alexandroni Brigade participated in the battles of Wadi Ara, Arab Kfar Sava, Tantura, Kakun, Rantia, Wilhelma and Om-Zera. On July 15, 1948, in the evening, his company replaced another company from the brigade in the posts east of Kula and had not yet managed to prepare and dig in properly. On the morning of the 9th of Tammuz 5707 (16.7.1948), the Legion forces attacked the outpost and, aided by artillery fire and armored vehicles, swept the positions of the platoon at the front post and forced the company to retreat, . He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
