Rosenzweit, Yaakov (Yankele)


Yaakov, son of Zissel and Kalman Rosenzweit, was born in Romania on 15 September 1915. He immigrated to Israel on the ship Dacia on January 1, 1937. He joined the Massada group, took root in the life of the society and the group, and studied all the professions related to his work. During the War of Independence, he served in the local army’s defense headquarters, where he repaired the various weapons from the “light” to the “heavy.” He was a loyal and humble man, loved by all his friends. On 28 Tishrei, October 31, 1948, he fell while carrying out his duties with his friend Lipa Gabze when they dismantled grenades. He was laid to rest in the Masada cemetery.
