Rosenthal, Yoram


Son of Yehuda (Ludwig) and Arna. He was born on March 25, 1937 in Kiryat Bialik. He grew up in his educated parents’ home and was active in the Mahaneot Haolim movement. Was subject to social activity and in most of his talent and energy was acceptable to all his friends. After graduating from elementary school in his neighborhood, he chose to continue his studies at the Mishmar HaEmek educational institution – according to his character and his inclinations. Soon he called the farm life and worked with his various branches with great energy and passion. He spent hours reading books and at the same time devoted his time to basketball and ping-pong games and stood out in his social activism. After completing his studies at the Mishmar HaEmek educational institution, which was his induction into the IDF in November 1955, he made the decision to do Mishmar HaEmek after returning from the army, enlisted in the paratroopers, was sent to a training course and participated in the retaliatory activities of 1956. He also took a paramedic course, after which he joined the battalion patrol in the Jerusalem hills, and on his many trips around the country, which he loved from his youth, he found great satisfaction. On Friday, 10 March 1956, he fell in battle near Qalqiliya and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Mishmar Ha’emek, a booklet bearing his name was published by his kibbutz, and his memory was mentioned in Uri Milstein’s book “The Wars of the Paratroopers” .
