Rosenthal, Shlomo (Hiram)


Son of Miriam and Abraham, was born on January 7, 1930 in Cairo, Egypt, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1934. Shlomo studied at the elementary and high school in Kiryat Motzkin and completed his studies in the eighth grade in Adar 1948. He was a member of Hashomer Hatzair and from 1946 he was active in the Gadna. In 1947, he completed a course for squad commanders and later served as a class leader, and on trips and trips he tried to increase his ability to cope with suffering and physical exertion, and simply and modestly failed the way he did in a simple way. , Trained with weapons and fortified the place, and when the war against the Egyptian invader began, his training was joined to one of the Palmach battalions in the Negev Brigade. Shlomo completed a machine gun course, was attached to the company assisting the battalion and participated in battles in Ashdod and in attacks on the Iraq-Suiden police. During the first truce, he moved with his unit to the Khaukhba-Hulikat authorities. On Sunday, July 8, 1948, when he was with his class in an isolated position, the Egyptians attacked them with multiple infantry and armor forces in violation of the cease-fire, and he returned fire for hours until his rifle was struck by an enemy bullet. To the aid of a friend who was wounded in the neck and was hit by a cluster of bullets in his leg and could not continue to retreat, he was promised that in the evening they would take him out and give him a hand grenade, and he promised to “straighten” the Egyptians.
