Rosenthal, Gershon
Son of Henna and Noah. He was born in 1907 in Marimpol, Lithuania. He completed his studies at the Tarbut school in his city. At the initiative of Gershon, who was an active Zionist, kibbutzim were established in 1930 to train Jewish youth on a non-Jewish Lithuanian farm. In 1933 he immigrated with his friends to Eretz Israel and joined the Shomer Association. When Wingate’s “Night Squads” were established, he joined them and worked extensively in their ranks. On the 16th of Cheshvan (29.10.1939), Gershon passed away during his service and was brought to eternal rest at a military ceremony at the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery. Survived by a mother and three sisters. His name was immortalized in the memorial book of his hometown.
