Rosenstreich, Yitzhak
Yitzhak, son of Tova and Benjamin, was born on May 1, 1951 in Kfar Sava.Yitzhak was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1969. At first he served in the paratroopers’ paratroopers and underwent a parachuting course, a course for squadrons and a scouts course. Afterward he became interested in his long-time hobby – the shooting. He completed his infantry officer training course and became one of the best snipers in the Israel Defense Forces, and was appointed deputy commander of a sniper course at the IDF’s Infantry School and was awarded the rank of lieutenant. He was very active in their training, in the professional training and advancement of infantry soldiers, and excelled as a guide, as an excellent officer and commander, and when he broke into the Yom Kippur War, Yitzhak served in the infantry school. When the fighting began, he made tremendous efforts to join his comrades who fought on various fronts. Thanks to his familiarity with infantry and shooting, he was joined to one of the finest units of the Israel Defense Forces with whom he fought on the Suez Canal front. On October 17, 1973, he was hit and killed in the battles near the Chinese Farm. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind a wife and son, parents and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to captain. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, then-defense minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Yitzhak was a good officer, dedicated, responsible, he loved his profession and was well versed in it.
