Son of Sophie and Max. He was born on December 11, 1922 in the city of Bensheim, Germany. In his city, he completed elementary school and continued his studies in high school. In 1936, after the Nazi rise to power in Germany, he was forced to stop his studies. He joined a group of young people who set out to prepare themselves for aliyah. The group stayed in the Zwiederze region of Holland and from there immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1938 as part of the Youth Aliya. In Israel Uri joined Kibbutz Geva. In 1940, after the outbreak of World War II, Uri enlisted in the British Army and served in the Transport Corps. With his company he took part in the battles that took place in the area of ​​Tobruk and then moved to the Hebrew Transport Unit 462 and with the British VIII camp, he passed through El Alamein to Tripoli. Uri was among the survivors of the ship “Arinapura”, which fell to the depths when 140 members of the unit were on their way to Malta in preparation for the invasion of Sicily. He served in Israel for a period of time and later took part in the invasion of Salerno. Uri was loved by his friends in the unit and enthusiastically filled every task assigned to him by his commanders. In his service in the Jewish units and in his war against the Nazi enemy, he had a desire to avenge the deportation of his family to the concentration camp in Theresienstadt. His brother, Hans, was sent from the camp to work in mines in Germany, but his whereabouts were unknown. The younger brother Geri (Gerhard) was sent to the death camp in Auschwitz but was miraculously saved. Uri was the only member of the family who managed to leave Nazi Germany. Uri was not satisfied with service in the transport units and volunteered for a commando unit that was sent to perform special services in countries occupied by the enemy. On 2 Av, July 22, 1944, Uri fell in combat in a commando operation in Albania and was put to rest at the British military cemetery near Athens, Greece, leaving parents and a brother who emigrated to the United States after the war.
