During vacations, he divided his time between the kibbutz and his relatives, but at the same time found time to work and save money to send his little brother to Turkey to visit his parents. He himself could not have made such a visit out of fear of being drafted into the Turkish army. But he did not extend to serve in the Israel Defense Forces on May 19, 1972. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, and the unit commander wrote to the bereaved family in a letter of condolence: “Nissim was a unique man and soldier.
