Rosenman, Eliezer (Shayish)


Son of Tova and Levi, was born on July 27, 1926, in Zamosc, Poland. In November 1933 the family immigrated to Israel. Eliezer attended elementary school and the Max Payne vocational school in Tel Aviv. He was an active athlete in the “Young Maccabi” and in a swimming competition. He achieved good achievements and received a certificate from the supervisor of physical education in the schools. He studied frameworks and worked as a locksmith. When he was 15, he joined the Haganah and prepared his parents for everything that might happen, because “every youngster of his people must be ready for self-sacrifice.” When the War of Independence began after the United Nations General Assembly decided on 29 November 1947 to divide the country into two states, he volunteered for the Jewish settlement police before his turn to enlist, and later served in the Givati ​​Brigade and in January 1948 he was stationed with his department in Gan Yavne. Two armed men and two hand grenades came out of the area and armed Arabs from the village of Abu Sawira saw them and opened fire at them.11 Eleven of the patrolmen were killed and Eliezer was among them, and his body was returned by the British army on 11.1.1948. Was brought to rest on Sunday, 12.1.1948, at the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion. On January 24, Givati ​​forces raided the village of Abu Suweira and blew up its houses.
