Rosenfeld, Yosef


Son of Nechama and Shlomo, was born on February 2, 1913, in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. In this city he spent his childhood and youth. As a 12-year-old boy, he joined the Hashomer Hatzair movement, and with his fellow movement members immigrated to Israel on May 15, 1935. From the day he immigrated to his death, he was a member of Kibbutz Amir. His adaptation to the life of the country and its attachment to it were not easy, but in his will he overcame difficulties. He was naturally humble, cheerful and social, always willing to help others. Simcha in his part, loves singing and playing and dancing. Although he was lonely, he had a fondness for the children, whom they greatly respected. He had a special disposition to general subjects, especially linguistics. He learned many languages ​​- Russian, English, Arabic – and increased reading. He worked as a driver on the kibbutz. He was active in the Haganah. During the Second World War, he volunteered for the British Army and served Italy, North Africa, Belgium and the Netherlands. During the War of Independence he served as a driver in the Galilee. On the day of his fall, he returned from a long drive in the kibbutz truck he was driving, and when he learned that reinforcements needed to be stationed around Manara, he went there at the head of a platoon and fell in battle in the Galilee Mountains on the 21 st of Tishrei 5709 (October 23, 1948). Was brought to rest in the cemetery on the banks of the Jordan River in his kibbutz Amir. His kibbutz issued a file in his memory.
