To establish his livelihood, he found work as a counselor in the deaf-mute school. Where he liked the management, the teachers and the children, and instructed them in garden work. At the beginning of the War of Independence, he stayed with them almost regularly and felt safe during times of danger. Partly recruited, he distributed his nights for guard duty and went to work with the children, and with the help of the management he was released. However, as the situation worsened, he enlisted in full service and took part in the battles of the Haganah and the conquests in Jerusalem. He was recently responsible for protecting the position with blood. When he was replaced for a short rest, the building was bombed and he remained at the head of five members whom he sent to internal rooms.
