Yehiel (Julius), son of Hannah and Abraham, was born on August 27, 1954, in Be’er Sheva. He studied at Achva School in the city, and after graduating worked as a mechanical shutter at the Dead Sea Works in Sedom. As a child, he helped his father sell his baked goods, and during his last years worked as a mechanical locksmith in various factories. Yechiel was tall and solid, sporty and enthusiastic about the handball game. He also traveled a lot on foot and in the car, throughout the Negev and its various sites. By nature, he was quiet, modest, and self-conscious. He had never insulted a friend and was loved by all his acquaintances. Despite his great strength, he treated every man with great gentleness. He was optimistic and smiling and always good-humored. His friends loved to talk to him and listen to his words, which were good in common sense and taste. They respected him very much for being truthful, candid, honest, and conscientious. Everyone knew that he was handsome, demanding and fair, honest, and very sensitive to acts of injustice. He was not choosy, he was simple and he was happy.
Yehiel was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of November 1972 and was assigned to the infantry corps, where he was considered a good soldier, disciplined and obedient, who fulfilled every task assigned to him, to the satisfaction of his commanders. , he tried not to worry his parents, and often wrote letters to home, but rarely told about his experiences in the army, so as not to arouse fears for his well-being. ) Yechiel fell in battle and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Be’er Sheva, leaving behind his parents, two brothers and two sisters After his death he was promoted to the rank of corporal, In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yechiel fought at the head of the force that penetrated the enemy forces, and he was well-served under fire and was admired by his comrades and commanders in the company
