Rosenberg, Benjamin (Benyek)


Son of Sarah (Sonia) and Zechariah was born on January 13, 1928, in Gesher, where he studied at a school in Kiryat Haim, but was indifferent to studies and, following the advice of his teachers, was sent to the educational institution in Pardes Hannah. He then worked as an apprentice at the electric company and studied at the electric company, and in 1946, when he became a professional worker, he joined the Palmach at the age of 18. At first he sat at Beit Hashita and wandered from place to place (Givat Hashlosha, Beit Ha’arava, Kfar Hess and more). During the struggle against the British he participated in the explosion of the Allenby Bridge, was detained for six weeks in the Latrun camp, and participated in punishing the village of the rioters. After completing his commanding course in Dalia, he joined the Negev Brigade in the Negev during the months of the siege of the Negev, and after a short vacation in Beer Yaakov he returned to the combat unit in the Negev Brigade. “We have to conquer the Negev, no matter what.” He fell on the 18th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 21, 1948) during the conquest of Be’er Sheva, was buried in Dorot, and on the 17th of Iyar 5705 (4.5.1950) he was put to eternal rest in the house Military cemetery in Haifa
