In high school he chose extensive studies in geography, knowledge of the country and art. In February 1989, Rotem was recruited to serve in the Israel Defense Forces and was assigned to serve in the Armored Corps, where he completed basic training and was sent to the Armored Corps School for Tank Training. After the training he left with the battalion for activities in Lebanon. At the end of the period, he was sent to a basic officers’ course, completed maintenance officers and was assigned to serve at the Training Base. He was able to make a warm connection with young people his age and with adults, and was careful to say what was in his heart in his special way. Sticking to the principles of loyalty and integrity were milestones in his short life. On December 8, 1992, Rotem fell during his service and was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot. Survived by his parents and three sisters – Adi, Maya and Gal. Rotem was promoted to captain after his death.
