Ron, Eitan
Eitan, son of Ziva and Tuvia, one of the founders of Moshav Arbel, was born on August 5, 1952 in Moshav Arbel. Eitan was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in November 1970 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, which he chose to serve in the combat force and because of his deep belief in the need for this type of service, despite his difficulty in breathing in field and dust conditions. During his military service, he successfully completed a course for tank commanders and was certified as a lieutenant colonel. Despite the hard training and the difficult field conditions, Eitan never complained to him during his entire service. His career in the army was guided by his personal integrity, his caring for everything that took place around him – for which he sometimes criticized the procedures and methods of work – and the sense of justice inherent in him. Thanks to these, he was considered a talented team member and a talented commander. Throughout his military service, he did his utmost to maintain close contact with his family and to be a partner in everything that happened in the village he loved so much. He was particularly interested in everyday life in the agriculture and asked to know every detail. During the Yom Kippur War, Eitan fought in the difficult battles that took place in the Golan Heights. On the 7th of Tishrei 5740 (7.10.1973), during the braking battles, he helped to supply ammunition to another tank company that fought in the area of Hoshea On the Tel Yosipun, his tank was hit and Eitan was killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
