Romano, David


David, son of Rosa and Moshe, was born in 1941 in Izmir, Turkey, and immigrated to Israel as part of Youth Aliyah in 1953. He began his studies in his hometown in Turkey and after his family arrived in Israel he studied in Kibutz Shaar Haamakim school, David was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1960 and assigned to the Armored Corps, where he served in the Armored Infantry Battalion and was discharged from reserve duty at the end of June 1963. In this unit he was called for periods of reserve service. In Dimona, he married his girlfriend Janet and eventually had four children: he was the head of a dedicated and loving family, a loyal husband and a caring father to his four children: Doron, Shoshana, Michal and Hagit. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “David served in the Armored Corps as a combat soldier and during the search for Egyptian commandos who penetrated the area, David was hit When he was in a forward position. David was a dedicated and a loyal soldier, loved by his friends and accepted by his commanders. ” To commemorate his name, his widow and parents donated holy books to the yeshiva.
