Rom, Werner


Son of Felix and the Dodge. He was born on May 25, 1907 in Berlin, the capital of Germany. After completing his studies at the Reali High School in Vickersdorf, he studied philosophy and political agriculture at the University of Berlin, but when he immigrated to Israel in 1933 he stopped his studies. His parents and his only sister perished during the Second World War and he remained the last vestige of the family. Showed a penchant for watercolor and gouache, leaving behind a few pictures; He worked in painting for advertising; He also wrote a piyut in German. Served four years in the British Army. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he became a member of the Hagana’s permanent service in the transportation service. He served in the army during the years 1948-1949 and from December 1950 on he was in the permanent army with the rank of major. On the 20th of Tammuz 5716 (20.6.1956) he died of the disease (stroke-Lev). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left a wife and a daughter.
