He completed his studies in 1987 and was certified as an electrical engineer. He also took an officer’s course and was drafted into regular service in the year And was assigned to serve in the Ordnance Corps, where he was involved in the development of the Merkava tank, and was promoted to the rank of captain in 1990. His commander described him as an extremely competent and professional officer, and he was about six weeks before his wedding date and fell during his service (9.6.1991), who was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul and left behind his parents and brother, the head of the branch in which he wrote a letter of condolence to the grieving family: “Lior aspired to perfection and was knowledgeable about his profession … Stood out against the Sabra roughness. ” While his direct commander wrote: “Captain Lior was an officer and an engineer who was one of the developers of the Merkava 3 tank. His professionalism and thoroughness left their mark on the project … Lior stood out in his delicate and special personality.” A certificate of appreciation was given to his family by the head of the IDF manpower department, and the document states that Lior saw his service as a mission.
