Rogachevsky, Yehoshua


Yehoshua, son of Sarah and Avraham (Sinai) Rogachevsky, was born in December 1917 in Sejera. His father was a Russian, one of the first Zionists in Baku from the time of Herzl, and in Israel he was one of the founders of the village of Sejera. Yehoshua was a counselor in the Haganah and was one of the most prominent security officers in the Galilee. He showed exemplary devotion and courage. Shimon left with a platoon to block the arrival of Arab reinforcements to the Arab village of Lubia and was wounded by a bullet in the stomach that caused an internal hemorrhage. He was brought to the hospital in Afula but died of his wounds before the operation on 2 Sivan, June 9, 1948. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Kfar Tavor, leaving behind his wife, Ravit. On 21.6.1950, Shimon was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Afula.
