Son of Yehuda and Rivka. He was born on June 1, 1954 in Tel Aviv. He studied at the BILU and Moriah elementary schools and at the Ironi B High School in Tel Aviv, and then studied at Bar-Ilan University and graduated with honors and began his studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was very sociable and very fond of his friends, who often chose him as their representative within the walls of a house He devoted much time not only to his studies but also to his hobbies – sports and art, his many occupations and interests He was able to devote the time he needed to everything, every occupation, at the right time, without harming his other pursuits.In Bar-Ilan University, he completed his bachelor’s degree in the Department of Physics and Computer Science and began studying for his master’s degree. He was always modest and honest, always looking for the truth and loving to help others, and despite his youth he acted with moderation, restraint, and understanding as an adult with experience and wisdom of life. From childhood, she had suckled the Yemenite tradition and she was fond of him in prayer, in psalms, in customs and in the ways of life. He liked to pray in a minyan of Yemenites and his reading of this week’s parsha was known as a fine and fluent reading, and everyone liked to hear from him a Torah reading in the Yemenite tradition. Amitai was drafted into the IDF in July 1975. After basic training, he was sent to the Intelligence Corps and served in a unit in the center of the country, and was given a commendable command by his commanders and co-workers. On the 23rd of Adar Alef 5736 (February 24, 1976) Amitai fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and three sisters. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Amitai, your son, was characterized by a rare combination of modesty, aspiration for values ​​and a talent for doing things. Amitai’s parents established in his memory a theoretical and theoretical library in the Department of Physics at Bar-Ilan University.
