Rilov, Ze’ev (Volodya)


Son of Rachel and Chaim, was born onthe 22nd of Iyar, May 9, 1912 in the city of Anniv, Russia to a family of working Zionists. On December 31, 1932 he immigrated to Israel. In 1941 he was active in the Haganah and was a counselor in the courses on Mount Carmel. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, Ze’ev fought in various places in the Negev and in Jerusalem. Ze’ev fell in Ramat Rachel on the 29th of Tishrei 5749 (1/11/1948) as a commander in the framework of one of the Etzioni Brigade regiments. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. He left behind a wife and a son and his father who lived in Nahalal. After his fall, he was promoted to captain.
