Rika, Nathan
Son of Aliza and Shlomo was born on May 15, 1925 in Damascus, the capital of Syria, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1935 and a year later they left Israel because they couldn’t make a living. Nathan left the country but with a deep impression, and returned to Israel at the age of 17, in 1942, studied carpentry and worked in it. In 1947, he brought his family back to Israel. Nathan was a member of Hanoar Haoved, and later joined Betar, without leaving the Histadrut. He was a member of the Irgun Zvai Leumi (National Military Organization) and participated in guarding the Tel Aviv border from December 1947 to April 1948. He took part in an Irgun attack on Jaffa, where he joined the Israel Defense Forces and served as a driver in a heavy mortar unit. Nathan fell in an accident (from a bullet fired from his rifle) while guarding his unit in a camp near Kfar Yona on the 23rd of Elul, September 27, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
