Riffeld, Walter

Son of Ida. Born on 16 April 1899 in the city of Breslau, Germany, he immigrated to Eretz Israel with his wife in 1936. When he arrived in Israel, Walter joined the ranks of the “Gana” in Haifa. Walter bought a donkey, harnessed it to the wagon, and found his livelihood by transporting goods and groceries in his cart. During the bloody riots of 1936-1939, on 18 Kislev (11.12.1938), when he was carrying a glass container from the lower city in the direction of Hadar Hacarmel, he was shot from ambush by an Arab rioter and died on the spot. Walter was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery. He left a wife.
