Riboyd, Eliahu


The eldest son of Miriam and Mordecai. He was born on June 1, 1944 in the Soviet Union, a big brother to Sara, and at the age of four in 1948, with the establishment of the State of Israel, he immigrated with his parents to Israel. Members of Neve Tzedek neighborhood. In his youth the family moved to Ramat Gan and Eliahu attended the “Ohel Shem” high school. During his studies Eliahu received certificates of recognition for his excellence in studies. After completing his military service, Eliahu joined the Technion in Haifa in the Electrical Engineering Department in 1962. With his wisdom, intelligence and high academic abilities, he completed his studies with high grades. During the Six Day War, during his tenure as a student at the Technion, he was drafted into reserve duty and served in the reserve division of Major General Avraham Yaffe, who fought in the central axis of the Sinai Peninsula, At the Technion in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Eliyahu believed that he should expand his general education in addition to his technological education. He chose to learn the Russian language, in addition to the absolute control he had in Hebrew, English, French and Yiddish. Eliahu’s motto was “no more.” He believed that there was no place in history for another holocaust that would harm the Jewish people, and therefore he decided to fulfill this desire by giving himself full support to the State of Israel in developing weapons on its borders. In his workplace he was recognized and respected for his high skills and abilities, and therefore even for senior positions, in a short period of time, despite his youth. Eliahu perished in a work accident as a researcher at Rafael on July 22, 1969. He was twenty-five when he fell. Eliyahu was laid to rest in the Holon cemetery. Survived by parents and sister.
